I grew up in the age of the internet still being a new thing – what some call today ‘The Wild West of the Internet.’ I learned HTML and CSS from customizing profiles on Myspace and various forums and blog websites. While today a large portion of websites are handled by CMS’s like WordPress and Drupal (or are created on Squarespace or Wix), I still have a fondness for websites created without their aid – just HTML and a CSS stylesheet. My first portfolio website was created by hand, and remains a favorite for the experiments I conducted with it, even if today I use a CMS and try and keep my website in line with current trends.
